Santa Baby...

Dear Santa Claus,

This year I've been a really good mommy and all I'm asking for is to be blessed with another child. I'm in a different stage of my life and would love to share everything I've learned and all the love I have with another little person. We've all been hoping, wishing and praying for this to happen for so long and now in my desperation I ask you for this little Christmas miracle. It would truly be the most wonderful Christmas present ever and it would make me the happiest person in the world (even while dealing with morning sickness, stretch marks and heartburn;)! I don't care if it's a boy or a girl or twins... I'm just asking for a happy, healthy baby of my own.

Hey Santa... they say you have to believe in order to receive and
I BELIEVE! :)

Love always,
   Mary

Powerless

Last week we lost something that I believe many of us take for granted... our electricity. We were powerless for 4 days due to hurricane-like winds that hit the San Gabriel Valley last Wednesday night. I was able to witness what 70 mph winds looked like from my bedroom... needless to say it was very dark and very scary! Transformers exploded... branches and leaves were blowing everywhere... things were breaking in my backyard and sirens didn't stop all night. It was a long and sleepless night for both my husband and I but to our surprise our girls slept through it all!
This was one of my facebook statues from that night... December 1 at 12:40am
Wow!! This is going to be one HUGE mess in the morning!! =/

What our small town of Temple City (and surrounding cities) found the next morning was far beyond our imagination. Here are some photos of our wind blowing disaster...

The golden arches came down! This is at the corner of my house.

About 18 power poles came down on Live Oak.

This is 1 of the 3 trees that came down at my daughter's school.
Classes were cancelled on Thursday and Friday due to lack of power and damages.

This tree came down on this house. Look at those roots!

More damage.

We in the other hand were very lucky to not have any terrible damages to our home or our cars. We just had a lot of trash, a few broken window screens and oh yes... the 4 days without power. The worst part of being without electricity... besides no TV, no clean clothes, no heat, and no internet, was that all our food went bad. We ended up with this...

A very empty sad fridge but
hey, it's nothing a few shopping trips won't fix! :)

So now here we are a week later... there are still people without power, trees and branches along sidewalks, and Edison workers everywhere. I really hope things get back to normal in our neighborhood very soon but for now let's Thank God that nobody was hurt, that we have roofs over our heads, and that every time we hit the switch a light turns on! Thanks Edison workers for that one! ;)

I'm Obsessed...

This weekend I admitted to my new obsession...WHITE CERAMIC ANIMALS!
I simply couldn't walk out of Home Goods and Pier 1 without buying those precious little animals. I think it all started with my desire for a White Deer Head . I don't recall the first time I laid eyes on it but all I could think of was purchasing that baby! Well, I'm glad to say that she arrived 13 days ago and I'm in love...

<><>
Aww... isn't she beautiful?!
Her name is Gisele.

Here's the rest of my white ceramic animal family... ENJOY! =)
This little birdie lives in my Powder Room.
I found it in a thrift store.

This is Lulu the cow!
I fell in love with her at Target.

I love Owls so I couldn't leave this one at Home Goods!

So cute... Salt and Pepper Shakers from Pier 1!

"Short" Story of My Life!

Once upon a time ... ;)
I was born in Mexico City and lived there with my great grandma and aunt (they're no longer with me) while my mom worked in Los Angeles for a couple of years. I came to California exactly 10 days before I turned 3 years old. I've lived here ever since and wouldn't change it for anything. I'm a SoCal Girl! ;) It was just my mom and I until I was 5 years old. My biological father lives in Mexico. I'm their "love child" so besides the occassional phone call, he's never been a part of my life. When I was 5 years old, my mom married an Argentinean man and shortly after they had my little brother, Carlos. I always refer to my step-dad as dad which is what he is and has been for the past 25 years. I had an overall good childhood nothing very exciting so I'll  jump across some growing developing years straight into my rocky high school years. In high school, I wasn't as good of a student as I possibly could have been. I got myself into trouble my freshmen and sophomore year and ended up getting sent to independent study. I spent one year in that program with Mr. Taite, a wonderful teacher... without  him I wouldn't have graduated. My mom knew a lot of what was going on, but my dad was pretty much left in the dark. My parents were pretty strict, they didn't allow me to do much. I wasn't much of a tamable girl (that hasn't changed much;) so I rebelled every chance I got. My junior year I met my now husband, Bobby... I knew he was "IT"! I just knew I would spend the rest of my life with him. I got pregnant my senior year... very unplanned, very scary, and very difficult! I graduated pregnant and told my dad a few weeks later. I was already 5 months and about to turn 18. It was a mess! I was sent to Mexico for my safety cause  at that point my dad had gone mad. He was very  disappointed in me. I spent 2 months in Mexico which was an extremely emotional time in my life. I "met" my biological father (hadn't seen him for 13 years and didn't even know what he looked like) and some of his family including my grandma, my beautiful cousin Luz and my beloved brother Hector... they have also passed away in the last couple of years. I was 32 weeks pregnant when I came back to the states and 4 days later... through a lot of complications I gave birth to my beautiful daughter Victoria. After a few months of living with my parents, going to college and being away from Bobby I moved in with him and his family. Of course that all happened after a huge fallout with my parents. We lived with his parents for 8 months before we got our own place. Through this time (about 2 years) I wasn't allowed back home and I only saw my mom every so often. It wasn't until she became ill that once again our lives reunited. At that time my parents were able to see that Bobby loves me and that he's a great husband and father. We've now been together for almost 13 years... and yes at times its been a wild ride full of many ups and downs but we have survived and will continue to do so. We got legally married on April 25, 2003... just 5 days before giving birth to our second precious baby girl Julieta. I love my family and I am forever grateful for them! I am truly blessed with an amazing husband and two wonderful loving sweet daughters! I really can't ask for more! =)
